A downloadable quest

A HeroQuest one-shot adventure intended for Champions of the Base Game System.

"In your travels you discover a small village shrouded in fear. Many have gone missing in the forest at night and you overhear whispers of ancient evils haunting the abandoned Great Hall at the far side of the wood. You vaguely recall setting out to explore the forest as you awaken in the midst of a surreal banquet hosted by the undead!"

This quest answers the question, "What do the heroes do with their gold?" by getting them to spend it on what may or may not be necessary equipment. The wandering "retired monster hunter" selling these wares understands the nature of the heroes' mission and is an expert appraiser of what they can and cannot afford. Zargon should feel free to embellish the list of legends and add more useless items and charge appropriate amounts for them depending on the heroes current gold.

There is also an opportunity for a fair bit of free-form puzzle solving interactions within this quest. "Can a hero disguised as a knight challenge the knight to single combat?" or "What do the records of lineage indicate?" Zargon, it is up to you to decide.

This quest is playable with the base game system. The monster count with all doors open at once will technically require "Return of the Witch Lord" but this is not a practical concern.  The stairs from "Kellar's Keep" are used to add flavor (descending into a catacomb) and can be omitted. Similarly, the map's exit stairwell would work better as a large double doorway to the Hall, but this would exceed the door count for the base game.
